This recipe takes me back to the times of my childhood. I can almost feel its delicious aroma and the sweet taste of honey. They are so good!

Everyone will get mouth water when they smell their appetizing scent.

Ingredients:

  1. 500 gr of corn flour;
  2. 50 gr of wheat flour;
  3. 2 dl of honey;
  4. 2 dl of olive oil;
  5. 150 gr of dark sugar;
  6. 1 tablespoon of fennel;
  7. Salt;
  8. 100 gr of bread dough;
  9. 1 tablespoon cinnamon;
  10. 100 g of crystallized citrus (optional).

Preparation:

  • From the eve, corn and wheat flour are sifted into a bowl.
  • Separate 2 dl of water, honey, olive oil, sugar, fennel and salt into boiling water and bring to the boil.
  • This mixture is immediately poured over the flours and mixed with a wooden spoon.
  • Dough, cinnamon and chopped dill are then added.
  • You knead everything very well, suffocate yourself with a blanket and let it rise in a warm place (hot, but not in the oven) from one day to the next.
  • On the following day, the pasta is rolled and the traditional format, ie, ovals, which are arranged in trays greased with olive oil, are tended.
  • Bake in a very hot oven 200C (392F).

Tip: Dough can be bought in bakeries and in some supermarkets. To make at home, use 100 gr of wheat flour, 20 g of baker’s yeast or 1 sachet of instant yeast, warm water and a little salt.

The Christmas Corn Cookies have a mandatory presence at the Christmas table. Prepare 2 to 3 days in advance and store in a closed container.
