Harmful Substances That Are Contained In “Beauty Products”

Each perfume and cosmetic product has a specific set of consumer qualities. alpha-hydroxide acids. The ingredients of most body scrubs. Helps exfoliate dead cells, but make the skin defenseless against aggressive factors of the environment;

acetamide. A moisturizer in blush and lipstick. Mutagen, a carcinogen;

benzene. It is part of many cosmetic products. Extremely toxic;

butyl hydroxy anisole. Preservative, used to increase the shelf life of products (creams, sprays, etc.). Has carcinogenic properties, quickly absorbed through the skin and accumulates in the body;

gamma-hexachlorane. A component of many shampoos, creams, lotions. Has a toxic effect on the nervous system. May provoke the development of skin cancer;

dioxane. It is part of soap, shampoos, lotions, creams, hair conditioners. It is a strong carcinogen. Destructively affects the liver cells;

isopropanol. A component of mouthwashes and other products. It can cause severe poisoning, accompanied by dizziness, headache and nosebleeds. With prolonged use causes the development of malignant neoplasms of the throat and oral cavity;

imidazolidinyl urea. A very common preservative. It is part of eye shadow, powder, shampoo (including children’s), colognes and lotions. It provokes the appearance of dermatitis. When stored in heat, it decomposes, releasing formaldehyde;

coal tar. One of the main ingredients of dandruff shampoos. Can cause asthma attacks and other allergic reactions. Long-term use leads to decreased attention and memory, chronic fatigue, headaches, nausea;

carbomer. Stabilizer and thickener in mascara, creams, bath products. It provokes the development of inflammatory processes of the eyes and skin allergic reactions;

quaternium-15. Antimicrobial and preservative. After expiration of storage, decomposes with the release of formaldehyde;

cocamide DEA (coconut oil amide). A popular component of shampoos. A complex substance capable of decomposing with the formation of high-carcinogenic nitrosamines;

sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). It is part of the vast majority of shampoos. As a detergent is not very effective, but cheap and good foam, creating the illusion of high quality products. Extremely harmful. Overdrying hair and scalp, depressing hair growth, destroying hair bulbs. It is poorly excreted from the body, accumulated in the liver, brain, eye tissues. Negatively affects the eyesight.

No less dangerous are related substances – ammonium lauret sulfate (ALS) and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), which are also widely used in the production of shampoos and bath foam;
loramid dei (DEA). Another foaming agent in soap and shampoo. Easily enters into chemical reactions, proceeding with the release of nitrosamines;

methylchloroisothiazolinone. Preservative, having carcinogenic and mutagenic properties; para-aminobenzoic acid (vitamin B10). A frequent component of sunscreen products. Phototoxic. May provoke the appearance of eczema and contact dermatitis;

parabens. The name of a group of widely used preservatives. Strong allergens. Cause breast cancer;

para-phenylenediamines. Substances that color hair black or brown. Provoke the emergence of various malignant neoplasms (lymphoma, myeloma, etc.);

polysorbates. Emulsifiers. Toxic. Application is fraught with the appearance of dermatitis;

propylene glycol. Cheap product of distillation of oil. It is part of many shampoos and skin care products as a moisturizing ingredient. In practice, it dries and irritates the skin and accumulates in the body, having a negative effect on the work of the kidneys and liver;

triclosan. A popular antibacterial ingredient in detergents. Carcinogenic and toxic. Poor influence on the state of the brain, lungs, liver and kidneys, reduces potency;

FDS (FDC-n or FD & C). A group of substances used as dyes, most of them irritate the skin and some are carcinogens, in small quantities safe, but the allowable concentrations for each color group are not clearly defined and the risk of overdose is very high ;

phthalates (salts of phthalic acid). Components of many perfumes and cosmetics. Highly toxic. They destroy the cells of the liver and kidneys. When ingested, pregnant women can cause malformations of the fetus;
fluorocarbons. Included in the composition of hair lacquers. In aerosol form, they are dangerous for respiratory organs;

formaldehyde. Preservative, a component of soap, shampoo, decorative cosmetics. Irritating to skin and mucous membranes. Carcinogen;

ethanolamines. A large group of substances that are added to soap, shampoos, bath foam as foaming agents and emulsifiers. Can have toxic effects on the skin, bone and spinal cord, liver and kidneys.
