An evolutionary energy that exists in every person in the sacrum region of the body is known by the Eastern word Kundalini. It is known by many names around the world. Its only purpose is, when it becomes activated, to evolve to higher levels our human consciousness.
Kundalini, also referred to as Shakti, is the primal energy or life force that gives energy to all living beings. Kundalini permeates the entire body and is directly connected to the breath, but there is also a pocket of sleeping Kundalini energy that lies sleeping at the base of the spine in the chakras lower in the body. This sleeping Kundalini is said to be curled around itself three and half times like a snake. When awakened, it rises up through the spine to the brain stem, causing the yogi to spontaneously attain samadhi, the last state of spiritual awareness.
Kundalini is a deeply revered energy and universally acknowledged, and permeates everyday life. It is well known by several different names (Shakti, Holy Spirit, etc) according to the contextual belief system or religion, there is a commonality in this realization of a cosmic energy. The word is derived from the Sanskrit kundal meaning “curled one.” The teaching of Dharma dictates that this inner energy is curled (like a serpent) located a short distance away of the base of the spine.
The purpose of Kundalini is to enhance that sleeping energy. Folks who decide to pursue Kundalini as a practice to release this curled power are said to be rewarded with spiritual enlightenment and higher conscious awareness. Kundalini energy rests like a curled serpent at the base of the spine. When this sleeping energy is freed it flows upward through the seven chakras – which are the energy centers of our physical body – and results in an extended state of consciousness, know as kundalini awakening.
Kundalini awakening, whether it occurs within a conventional spiritual discipline or spontaneously, brings demanding situations for lots of people. It is extraordinarily rare for an awakening to be complete before many years of clearing have occurred. This energy of life force has an objective of bringing you to a complete peace in the universal Self, or what has been called the peace that passes comprehension. A scripture defines Kundalini as a goddess (also called Shakti) who awakens and runs through the whole body, through the crown of the head to merge with her lover, the God Shiva, they represent pure universal consciousness.
Humans carry their pain in several ways, just as we live our lives in different ways, and so there can be a wide variety of responses to this movement of energy, or clearing process. If there are physical problems from an old injury it may be especially sensitive. If our diet has not been healthy or our profession causes us to live where there is toxic emotional energy, this can leave us more vulnerable to difficulties. If there has been abuse of any kind, or there is a history of alcoholism or drug-use, the body may be especially challenged by this awakening, which is trying to clear it of the past memories and experiences. If there is a tendency of the personality to contract and a very intense desire for control the process can be very hard because of our resistance to it.
While spiritual students seeking the full awakening of Kundalini are historically apprenticed under a qualified spiritual master, there are many ways to awake your Kundalini in a gradual and wholesome way. Thus, you can easily avoids the pitfalls (blindness, madness, prolonged trance) that can accompany an ungoverned awakening of the Kundalini.
Kundalini energy is saved inside the Root Chakra. Like all chakras, it is shielded by thick energy webbing that deactivates higher Chakra functions by default. The Chakra energy centers play a key role in enabling the energy body to safely awaken Kundalini energy, which is compressed deep inside the Sacrum at the base of the spine. To activate Kundalini, you need to expand and strengthen the Chakras first by doing regular work with them.
Many people want to discover how to awaken the Kundalini. And as there are strategies for Kundalini Awakening, many of the techniques are kept in secrecy by masters until the spiritual student is ready to receive them. The energy may feel rude and profound at times. But it is rarely painful. Usually it is the fear and the attempt to stop it that causes pain. If you are having lots of body movement, lay down once or twice a day on the bed, and invite the energy to move through you and clear out whatever doesn’t belong to you, and whatever is in your best interest to release at that moment. Usually it will run for a few minutes and then stop, you will feel more comfortable. You in particular need to do this if you work in an environment where you may be picking up negative energy or the pain of others such as healing or in places where there is a lot of alcohol use, or in hospitals therapeutic work. If you are having persistent physical pain in this process you must have a clinical evaluation.
